Arizona Wildcats Basketball
Deandre Ayton set a freshman record with his 13th double-double and Dylan Smith, subbing for the injured Rawle Alkins, hit 5 of 5 from the field -- including four 3-pointers as Arizona beat California 79-58 at Berkeley tonight.
Ayton finished the night with 20 points and 11 rebounds, while Smith scored 14 points as all five Arizona starters scored in double figures. Allonzo Trier contributed 15 points, Parker Jackson Cartwright netted 14 and Dusan Ristic added 10.
Despite 21 turnovers, Arizona had an easy time of it with the Golden Bears. The Wildcats led 36-26 at the half and built on their lead in the second half, finishing the night with a 62 percent shooting percentage (31of 50) -- including 11 of 19 from beyond the arc.
Arizona, ranked 14th this week in the AP Poll, improves to 15-4 and 5-1 in the Pac-12 Conference.
