John Mathews Update
John Mathews, a member of the 60-and-over Tucson Old Timers, went 1 for 2 and a walk today in Peoria at the Men's Senior Baseball League World Series. After four games, Mathews is batting an even .500 with three hits in six official trips to the plate. Big John has also walked once, knocked in three runs and has a sacrifice bunt to his credit.
John's team, the Paladins out of Albuquerque, New Mexico, are 2-2 so far in the round-robin with a doubleheader slated for tomorrow at Riverview Park in Mesa. The playoffs in the 60-and-over Central Division begin on Friday.
