Lead-off hitter Peters gets the job done in TOTS' win

 Tucson Old Timers (TOTS)

60-and-over-baseball

Team White  7   Team Blue  6

Pistol Pete Peters, 73, did what lead-off hitters are supposed to do: Get the party started.

Peters (photo) led Team White to a 7-6 win at Udall Park this morning in a 60-and-over Tucson Old Timers game with a perfect 3 for 3 day and scored twice.

He had a little help from his teammates, too. Team White starter Randy Livingston picked up the pitching victory with six solid innings of work, although things got a a little dicey in the sixth and final inning when Team Blue, down 7-2, plated four runs -- highlighted by an RBI-single from Mike Dawson and a Roger Beebe double, which knocked in two runs.

Team White's Mike Steele, Jimmy Kinion and Joe Opocensky contributed two hits apiece. Both of Opocensky's hits were doubles and he drove in three of the seven runs.

The TOTS return to action on Monday at Udall. Game time: 8:30 AM.
