Thompson, Ochoa hot hitters in July

The hot days in July didn't seem to bother Doc Thompson and Jesse Ochoa as the duo combined for 43 hits during the month. Thompson played in just nine games for the TOTS, but went 22 for 31 for a .710 batting average, while Ochoa played in 10 games and  collected 21 hits in 32 at bats to finish the month with a healthy .656 batting average.

Thompson tied for the lead in RBI with 16 along with Pete Peters, while Ochoa tied with Tim Tolson for second in runs batted in with 14.

In the runs-scored department, it was Dennis Crowley leading the way with 17. Joe Aparicio and Denny Leonard tied for the club lead in walks with six apiece. Tolson hit the only home run during the month, while Tolson and Thompson tied for the most doubles at seven apiece.

On the mound, it was Thompson leading the way with three wins and just one loss. Also recording pitching victories during the month were Billy Heiny, Bob Daliege, Pigpen Price, Crowley, Ochoa and Mike Steele.
