Wildcats had plenty of fight...but lacked a punch at Pauley

 Arizona Wildcats Basketball

The Arizona Wildcats (16-2, 6-1) had plenty of fight in them, but lacked a punch at Pauley Pavilion tonight, losing 75-59 to the 7th-ranked UCLA Bruins (14-2, 6-1).

It was an ugly night for the 3rd-ranked Wildcats as they sputtered on all cylinders -- shooting just 29.7 percent from the field, hitting only 23 of 75 shots. Yes 23 of 75!

Kerr Kriisa may want to change his name for a few days. Bless his heart he tried...and he tried...and he tried to sizzle the ball through the nets. Instead, Kriisa was a miserable 0 for 12 and 0 for 9 from long range.

Bennedict Mathurin led the Wildcats with 16 points, but made just five field goals in 22 attempts. He was the fighter on the court who threw the most punches.

The Arizona players looked exhausted. I know I am.

There will be payback. McKale awaits the Bruins!
