TOTS Game of the Week

Tucson Old Timers (TOTS)

60-and-over baseball

The TOTS will take a week off for the Memorial Day holiday, but today at Udall Park the two teams -- Team Blue and Team White -- went out with a bang.

In arguably the best game of the week -- maybe the entire month of May --  two righthanders, Team White's Reed Palmer and Team Blue's Pigpen Price, locked horns for seven innings.

Palmer, at 6 foot-7, picked up the 5-1 win, allowing just two singles in seven innings. Price kept pace, allowing just five hits, but four of them came in the fifth inning and were sandwiched between a walk and two errors. Team Blue scored their lone run in the second inning. And that was it. Goose eggs on the scoreboard the rest of the way.

Key hits in the five-run fifth inning came from John Mathews, Joe Opocensky, Lloyd Barzell and Palmer.

The TOTS will take Friday and Monday off. The TOTS will return to action at Udall on Wednesday, the 31st of May. Game time: 9 a.m.
