A tale of two halves.
Arizona (9-4), down 24-0 at the half, shut down SMU in the second half, 19-0, but allowed the Mustangs (9-4) to escape the Holiday Bowl in San Diego tonight with a 24-19 win.
Arizona quarterback Noah Fifita threw three touchdown passes in the second half. Fifita finished the night completing 28 of 43 passes for 265 yards, while running the ball for 73 yards on 13 carries.
Great season, Wildcats!
Note: Despite the loss, Arizona put together an exceptional season. The players played their hearts out in every game and never gave up, despite all the adversity on and off the field. An added touchdown here and there in the red zone during the course of the season could have produced an 11-win season. Case in point: BYU.
