Wildcats open 2024 season

The Arizona baseball team opened its 2024 season with a four-game homestand at Hi Corbett Field, winning three of four, including a 2-1 series win over #23 Northeastern last weekend and a single win Tuesday 24-4 over Utah Tech.

Leadoff hitter Brendan Summerhill is off to a fast start this season with 11 hits in 19 official trips to the plate for a hefty .579 batting average. Summerhill scored seven times and knocked in 11 runs to lead the Wildcats.

Arizona beat Northeastern 6-1 in the opener, lost 8-7 on a 9th-inning solo home run in Game 2 off closer Trevor Long, and won the three-game series on Sunday, 9-3.

The Wildcats hit the road for a three-game series with San Diego, Feb. 23-25.
