Both teams came from the same Pac-12 Conference.
Both teams battled to the buzzer, but Arizona's final shot of the game by its star guard Aari McDonald bounced off the rim and Stanford escaped with a 54-53 win tonight at the Alamodome in San Antonio to capture NCAA Women's Basketball Championship.
McDonald scored a game-high 22 points and Shaina Pennington tossed in 15 points to lead the Wildcats.
Way to go Wildcats and congrats to the Stanford Cardinal.
