Diamondbacks to face 20-9 Mets

We are heading for the dog days of summer.

Here are a few Arizona Diamondbacks' stats...

Strange as they may be.

Arizona is struggling to stay above the .500 mark at 15-13 with a tough road trip ahead. The team will play three games, starting with the opener tonight against the New York Mets, who currently sit atop the Major League standings with a 20-9 record. The Diamondbacks road trip will end with a three-game series in Philadelphia (15-13).

The Diamondbacks currently hold the 1-2 punch in the National League in home runs, with Eugenio Suarez, the NL Player of the Week, leading the way with 10 round-trippers, followed by teammate Corbin Carroll with nine homers.

Arizona's Brandon Pfaadt leads the Majors on the mound with a 5-1 record!

Crazy stats for a team struggling to stay above the .500 mark.

Wildcats salvage 1 of 3 in Lubbock

Arizona Wildcats Baseball

The Arizona Wildcats battled weather delays, wind and cold, and a tornado watch or two over the weekend in Lubbock, winning one of three games against Texas Tech.

The Red Raiders and the Wildcats waited for the rain to go away at least long enough to play a doubleheader on Saturday as Texas Tech won the first game 12-3, but Arizona came back to take the nightcap 2-1.

This morning, Texas Tech won 9-3 to capture the series and improve its overall record to 15-24 and 10-11 in the Big 12 Conference. As for the Wildcats, they picked up their 30th win of the season while in Lubbock to improve to 30-13 overall and 13-8 in conference play.

The Wildcats received a seven-inning gem from starter Owen Kramkowski (7-3), who allowed eight hits and threw 100 pitches before Tony Pluta shut down the Red Raiders the rest of the way to pick up the save. Arizona scored the two runs in the sixth on a homerun from Aaron Walton and an RBI single from Garen Caulfield.

Arizona returns to Hi Corbett Field on Tuesday night for a non-conference clash with New Mexico State and a three-game Big 12 Conference series on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday against TCU.

Note: The 60-and-over Tucson Old Timers (TOTS) will attend Saturday's 6 p.m. game against TCU. The TOTS will wear their blue and white jerseys and sit on the first base side of the stadium. It's the TOTS annual group outing in support of the Arizona Wildcats.

Arizona Baseball: The Diamondbacks, the Wildcats and the TOTS

From the desk of Dan Price

My goodness! Where has all the time gone?

It's mid-April, and baseball is in full swing mode.

The Major League 2025 baseball season is off and running, with most teams 12 to 15 games into their regular schedule already! The LA Dodgers and the San Diego Padres have 10 wins under their belts—the Dodgers are 10-4 and the Padres are 10-3 in the NL West.

The Arizona Diamondbacks are three games back with seven wins and six losses. The Milwaukee Brewers (7-5) are at Chase Field this weekend for a three-game series.

Josh Naylor, the former Cleveland first baseman, leads the Diamondbacks with a .340 batting average (16 for 47), while Corbin Carroll and Eugenio Suarez are tied for the most homers with five. On the mound, the Diamondbacks are struggling. Brandon Pfaadt is 2-1 with a 3.50 ERA, while Merrill Kelly is 2-1 with a 7.20 ERA.

The Arizona Wildcats play a three-game series with Oklahoma State at Hi Corbett this weekend. The Wildcats are 23-9 overall and 8-4 in the Big 12 Conference race. Arizona is currently 13-2 at home and fresh off a series win (won 2, lost 1) in Tempe over the Arizona State Sun Devils.

Arizona is missing one of its best players (Brendan Summerhill), who will be out of action with a hand injury for a few more weeks. Picking up the slack are Adonys Guzman (39 for 110 and 4 homers), Aaron Walton (40 for 116 and  5 homers), and Mason White (42 for 132 and 7 home runs).

As for amateur baseball, the 60-and-over Tucson Old Timers are in their fourth month of the 2025 season.

Mike Dawson, who turns 70 years of age next week, led the club in hitting in March with a .667 batting average (26 for 39), while Jon Beady went 22 for 32 (.668 average) and led the club in RBI with 19.
